KAI for Student Success

Help students make informed choices and keep progressing

Help students make academic choices, meet programme requirements and find support when they need it. KAI brings guidance into the website and student portal, while advisers and administrators gain the context to help each student progress. Institutions can see where a cohort needs attention and improve the processes behind the experience.

01 / The Student Pathway Guide

Guidance built around each student’s pathway

The Student Pathway Guide is the organising experience for this page. It connects the student’s programme requirements, completed work, available choices and stated goals. It can help a student plan a term, understand an academic process, prepare for an assessment or find the right support while they are already in their portal.

The pathway should also be useful when things are going well. A student can explore electives, research, projects and experiences that support their interests. When a requirement is unclear or a plan changes, the same context helps them work through the next step.

I want to move towards analytics. Which electives can I take next term?
KAI Chat
I can look at the electives offered next term, the prerequisites you have completed and the programme requirements still in your plan. Let us compare the options that fit your goal and your timetable.
Student
One of them needs a course I have not taken. Can I still register?
KAI Chat
The published prerequisite applies to that elective. I can show other available choices and the institution’s review process if you want to request an exception. A person would decide any exception.

Adviser’s permitted view
Sees the student’s academic goal, relevant progress and the requirement behind the question in the permitted view. The adviser can discuss the best course plan, rather than reconstructing the issue from the beginning.

Where the institution enables registration actions, the student can carry an eligible choice into the registration process. The academic record, course rules, available seats and timetable must come from the connected systems governing that decision. How permissions work on the KAI Platform →

04 / Outcomes

Choose a student outcome to improve

01
Support timely course registration
Help students understand available options and requirements before the deadline. Give advisers the context to resolve cases needing review.
02
Help first-year students make a strong start
Answer recurring questions, help students navigate services and show teams where additional guidance would help a cohort.
03
Improve academic progress
Help advisers examine patterns in participation and results and support students with timely, relevant conversations.
Illustrative example
A course registration goal in practice
Objective
Help students make suitable course choices before registration closes.
Audience
Students choosing courses for the coming term, with advisers supporting cases that need judgment.
KAI helps the team
Explain requirements in the portal, compare permitted course options, identify prerequisite or timetable questions, prepare exception cases for review and surface recurring issues with course availability or instructions.
Progress
Students completing registration on time, exceptions resolved, repeated questions reduced and course access issues identified.
This is one of many student success objectives. The same approach can support academic guidance and service access throughout the student’s time at the institution.

How KAI supports student success

KAI Chat →
The student uses the Pathway Guide directly in the portal. An adviser or administrator can also ask about a case using the information their role is permitted to see. It is useful for everyday guidance even without an outreach programme.
KAI Intelligence →
Faculty and support teams can understand patterns across a cohort, such as recurring registration blockers or needs for academic support. They can plan an intervention and evaluate whether it helps.
KAI Voice →
A conversation can help a student work through a choice, clarify a concern or respond to a purposeful check-in. The team can choose this channel for situations where speaking is useful.
KAI Email →
An individual request that needs written review can reach the appropriate team with its context, while published-information questions can be answered from approved sources where Email is enabled.
Together
Together, Intelligence can surface a recurring course access issue, Chat can guide students through available choices, and advisers can use the same context to address cases requiring a person. Voice supports selected conversations where they add value.
